Isaiah was the earliest and most sublime of the four greater Hebrew prophets, son of Amoz. The dates of his birth and death are unknown, but he lived from about 760 B.C. to about 700 B.C. He was the figure in the Biblical Book of Isaiah and was traditionally considered to be its author. Then was an 8th-century BC Judean prophet who declared all the world to be his people that their nation would be destroyed if they turned from God.
